13 Secret subscription boxes you don’t want your kids to miss

I’m a huge fan and advocate of subscription boxes for kids. As I am not good at doing DIY projects and crafts for my daughter, nor am I good at cooking, I rely heavily on pretty boxes packed with goodness on our doorstep every month.

Thea is receiving five different crates every month ranging from book subscriptions to baking healthy meals.

Initially she only used to receive Kiwi Co arts, crafts and science projects (you can read more about it on my blog post HERE). The crafts and tasks inside boxes are awesome! Unfortunately they arrive only once a month. Hence we added several more and never looked back.

Here’s the subscription boxes for kids that we recommend checking out:

1. Making veggies fun with Veggies Bud Club subscription box

My daughter absolutely adores this box. And I love it too because it encourages her to eat more veggies. Moreover the activities cover a wide variety of subjects such as math, reading & literacy, science, art, hands on activities and so much more (while encouraging healthy eating).

Each Veggie Buds Club Box includes a new veggie activity book, a quality children’s book, activity pages, collectible veggie button, veggie stickers, and materials for the crafts, growing projects, and games featured in the veggie activity book. The veggie activity book includes kid-approved recipes, crafts, a tips sheet, games, growing projects, and more!

Every month features a new veggie and the activities are designed to encourage your child to try the featured veggie. Veggie Buds Club is recommended for children ages 3 to 6.  I can’t recommend it highly enough!

Unfortunately they only ship within United States and to Canada. What we do is ask our friends in US to ship it to Singapore.

2. Get your kids outside and active!

THiNK OUTSiDE is a monthly subscription box full of outdoor gear and resources that will get your kids away from a screen and outside exploring nature! These boxes were created for a wide age range: they can be suitable for ages 4-8 with parent guidance and participation which is a great way to build family connection! For ages 9-14+, your kids will gain confidence in the outdoors with the challenges and education while exploring the box independently. Ships outside the US, but to a limited number of countries.

4. Receive personalised snail mail letters every week sent by a travelling pigeon

Your Letters from Patrick is an educational program for children aged 4-9. What happens here is that a magical postal pigeon, called Patrick, travels all around the world. Not only that. He sends personalized snail mail letters to children every week!

Meet Patrick the Pigeon!

gifts for kids ideas

Patrick becomes a new friend who writes about the countries that he visited, the interesting things he had seen and heard. By listening or reading letters about Patrick’s adventures, children learn a variety of new topics, develop a love for reading and learn so much about the beautiful world that surrounds them.

In addition to entertaining letters, Patrick sends a folk tale from each country, stickers, positive affirmation cards, and little gifts. Colorful envelopes addressed to the child arrive every week and bring joy every single time.

Each folktale comes with hand-drawn individual illustrations and sketches. Children can color them to their liking. Here are a couple of illustrations for folktales from Germany, Peru, and Tanzania.

Patrick has teamed up with Plant for the Planet- an NGO that manages reforestation projects around the world. For every subscription, Patrick plants a tree as part of their latest project.

This means that Your Letters from Patrick are not just carbon-neutral, but they actually help cleanse the air we breathe and help the animal kingdom!

More information about this program can be found on Patrick’s website or by saying hi at [email protected]

This educational program for children is available in English and Lithuanian.

5. Give the gift of cuteness, one box at a time

I love all things Japan. From having a cup of coffee at Japan rail Cafe in Singapore with my Japanese girlfriends, shopping at Japanese supermarket to travelling in Japan! If you are familiar with Japanese culture then you must have heard of ‘kawaii’. Basically it is translated as ‘cute’ and is a big part of Japanese culture. Kawaii can be found in fashion, anime, art and so much more.

So if you are anything like me you are gonna love Kawaii Box subscription boxes. The content in each box is absolutely Kawaii and the kids and adults love it. Moreover they ship worldwide for free and include a tracking code!

6. Foster your child’s creativity and confidence with an Earth friendly company Green Kid Crafts

Green Kid Crafts deliver creative and eco-friendly craft and STEAM activities (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics), right to your door through their subscription program. Every month’s Discovery Box is packed with 4-8 unique and engaging activity kits that my daughter loves!

A few months back we were working on a bird feeder together. However that box came with this insanely delicious sunflower seed butter which was supposed to help keep seeds together. Unfortunately for the birds half of the butter did not make it onto the feeder…

They do ship outside the US, but currently the list of countries is reduced. Check if yours is on the list.

7. Bringing joy of learning to all – one box, one child, one family at a time.

One of the reasons I love Squizzel Box is that they are based in Singapore thus you don’t have to wait forever for the box to arrive.

This monthly subscription learning package is packed with fun hands-on activities for children aged 3 and above.

The activities in each crate aim to help children learn and hone the 7 key developmental skills vital in preschool education – cognitive development, language and literacy, motor skills development, numeracy, social & emotional development, discovery of the world and aesthetics & creative expression.

Focusing on a new theme each month, the thematic activities (with materials provided) in these subscription boxes for kids allow children to explore, create, learn and most importantly, have fun! They ship outside Singapore, but check if your country is on the list.

What’s inside every Squizzel Box :

  • 10 hands-on activities and/or projects to discover and explore 5 learning areas of the month’s theme
  • Safe and good quality materials for the 10 activities
  • Step by step instruction booklet with learning guide
  • Extension activity ideas to stretch learning
  • Suggested reading list to enhance knowledge of the theme
8. Give the gift of love, one box at a time with KiwiCo

This was the first subscription box that I ordered for my daughter almost 2 years ago. She loves their crates. Each box comes with three different activities related to one theme. For example last month we received projects related to dinosaurs. Thea loves the dinosaurs so she was super excited to work on these creative tasks.

The other KiwiCo science & art projects that Thea and I completed in the past were crates about rain forests, farm animals, rainbows, glowing nature, camping etc. They ship worldwide!

9. Fun learning for young minds with The Preschool subscription box

As the name suggest this subscription aims to teach your preschooler the basics of kindergarten. Each box is focused on selected learning objectives with an eye on phonics, reading skills and basic math concepts. Moreover each box comes with a fun book and cute stickers!

We haven’t tried this box and I wish I had known about it when Thea was younger. They have over 50 super positive verified reviews! Check out for yourselves by clicking on the picture above. Unfortunately they only ship to US and Canada.

10. Monthly enriching reads and hands-on learning kits inside Banyan Tree Kidz subscription boxes

I like how this monthly subscription combines the love for reading together with hands on creative experiments. Usually monthly subscription boxes offer just books or just crafts so getting both in one box that are related to each other is such a smart concept.

And the good news? They ship worldwide from Canada!

11. Give memorable experiences with KidArtLit subscriptions , not just more ‘stuff’

Okay, so this one is another great subscription box created by moms and education experts which combines reading and creative hands on experiences. We think these boxes are awesome. Why? Glad you asked.

That’s the box where art kits meet story time – engaging & most recent kids’ books with interactive, age-appropriate themed projects.

Here’s what your kids will find inside these boxes:

  • Unique and artistic picture books delivered to your door
  • Frustration-free, open-ended projects specifically designed for children ages 3-8 years old
  • Choose between their Spark and Deluxe kits: Spark Kit includes one quick art kit and the Deluxe kit includes two art kits – one “ready-set-go” and another more in-depth project
  • All the supplies you need to create fun and educational projects and enough supplies to do each project twice. Great for siblings, play-dates, or parent-child bonding

By the way, it ships worldwide from United States!

12. Read diverse and inclusive stories that build empathy with For Purpose Kids

We’ve probably all seen this nice quote which was trending all over social media: ‘In a world where you can be anything, be kind’. It’s true, there is never too much kindness. I strongly believe that we should help our children grow up being kind to other people, animals and the environment. For this very reason I love For Purpose Kids subscription boxes and other items in their shop because they help do just that.

I love love love their ‘Protecting our environment toolkit’, I think every child should have it. Each Toolkit & Book Club selection is curated around a specific theme and uses unique, multicultural characters to share ideas about being kind and doing good for others, animals and the planet.

13. 你好! I Luv Chinese Box

We live in Singapore so my daughter attends a Chinese preschool. While she understands the spoken language quite well she doesn’t get to practise it at home. All that my husband can say in Mandarin is ordering sparkling water at a restaurant and I know just enough Mandarin to get myself into trouble and out of it.

So, this subscription box is awesome for her to practise at home! I Luv Chinese Box is a Chinese learning subscription box for kids age 3-6. It’s great because they learn a new language without even realising that they are learning. The box is packed full with fun activities that teach kids 3-4 Chinese characters each month.

Moreover in order to help kids enjoy learning these new words, each box includes 3 hands on crafts, 3 games, 3 stories to practice reading, 1 worksheet booklet and 1 set of flashcards. 1 video lesson per week is also included for free.

As 13 is my lucky number I am going to stop here. If you have anything to add to the list, let me know in the comments below!
