Raising Little Travellers

Hi, and welcome to the Raising Little Travellers blog!

I’m Vaiva, the founder of this mom-and-daughter travel and exploration blog. I was born in Latvia, grew up in Lithuania, and have lived, studied, and worked across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Traveling is my passion – especially the experience of living abroad.

For some reason, I’ve always been fascinated by China. I’m grateful for the four years I spent living in Beijing, during which I traveled extensively across the country, picked up just enough Mandarin to get myself into (and out of) trouble, and even published a China travel guide.

My daughter, Thea, was born in China, took her first steps and spoke her first words in Singapore, and lost her first tooth in India – where a very international tooth fairy paid her a visit!

These days, we call New Delhi home. Here, we count holy cows on the way to school, snack on samosas, and take part in India’s one-of-a-kind festivals.

We love exploring India and beyond in search of fun, safe, and exciting experiences for kids. Thea shares what she loves in each destination and what she recommends for fellow little travelers, while I write about it all here.

On this blog, you’ll find travel advice straight from a seven-year-old – written by her mom. We also chat with expat moms living in some of the world’s most fascinating destinations. In our Global Parenting interview series, they share their experiences on travel, parenting, and life abroad.

Thea and I hope our stories inspire you to travel with kids – big and small – and to discover the beauty of the world around us!

With love,
Thea & Vaiva
