Future World: Where Art Meets Science at ArtScience Museum is a super kids- friendly exhibition in Singapore. It is located in the iconic Marina Bay Sands area and definitely is a great place to go to with toddlers, kids, tween and teens.
ArtScience Museum looks like a giant lotus surrounded by a huge decorative pool where thousands and thousands of purple lilies bloom. Really an Instagrammable place if you’re looking for one!
I can’t really count the number of times we’ve been there. Yes, we like it THAT much. I honestly think it’s an amazing place for children of all ages, though adults find it very entertaining too.
The creators of this permanent (thankfully) exhibition aim to take visitors on an exciting journey of discovery through three key narratives- Space, Park and City in a Garden.
WHY WE LOVE IT
The first couple of times we came here, my daughter spent the majority of time sliding down a massive digital slide. She loves any type of slides, but you don’t get sliding down a flat screen TV with changing displays at every playground. So for a while this was her favourite activity and she mainly focused on that.
However lately she seems to prefer drawing and colouring with crayons, then scanning it under a designated scanner and then waiting for her masterpiece to appear on the moving digital wall installation.
You can choose diverse patterns to colour. It also depends on the area of the exhibition. Thea likes everything marine life so we go for sharks, fish, turtles and jellyfish. When in another area with the wall dedicated to the City, you can select prints with various vehicles and spaceships.
By the way, there is no age limit for these colouring and scanning activities. From toddlers to grandmas there is a right picture for everyone.
WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO IN THE FUTURE WORLD AT ARTSCIENCE MUSEUM?
In addition to slides and several edutainment areas for colouring and uploading your masterpieces of the digital walls there are several other different displays and activities.
My daughter loves the enclosure with balls her size that gradually change colours. The balls are something like what you’d use in a Pilates session, just that these are more fun. There are two areas: one for tiny tots with smaller balls and the other larger area with huge balls for bigger kids.
The displays and activities seem to change slightly from time to time, however each time there is time well spent.
Basically this exhibition/workshop is an entertaining immersion in the world of art, science, magic and metaphor through a collection of incredible digital installations. I can’t recommend it highly enough, though I probably shouldn’t because it’s already crowded as it is. Yes, that’s the major downside- it’s really crowded.
Due to a large amount of visitors there are always long queues at the ticket counter. Get your tickets in advance here and skip the line.
Have fun in the Future World!
