Quick Summary: Singapore to Legoland Malaysia with Kids

Is it possible to visit Legoland Malaysia from Singapore in one day?

Yes — and it is surprisingly easy.

We took the direct Leo City Coach Pte Ltd service from Singapore to LEGOLAND Malaysia, and it turned out to be one of the easiest ways to cross the border with kids. The coach departed from Suntec Tower 2 Coach Bay at around 8:45 AM and drove us directly to LEGOLAND Malaysia, covering a distance of approximately 47.6 km. The journey was smooth and comfortable, even with the immigration stops at both Singapore and Malaysia checkpoints. One-way tickets typically cost around SGD 12–15, which I found very reasonable for such a convenient transfer.

I booked our tickets online in advance through BusOnlineTicket here.

Is one day enough for Legoland Malaysia and SEA LIFE Malaysia?

Yes. We comfortably combined both parks in one day and still had time for breaks, shopping, and snacks.

What is the easiest way to get to Legoland Malaysia from Singapore?

The easiest and cheapest option is usually a direct coach bus from Singapore. However, if you prefer a private transfer you can easily book one here: LEGOLAND Malaysia Entry Ticket & Transfer from/to Singapore

Is crossing the Singapore–Malaysia border difficult with children?

Not at all. We found it very safe, modern, clean, and surprisingly quick.

Would we do this trip again?

Absolutely yes.

Why We Decided to Visit Legoland Malaysia from Singapore

Singapore is incredible with children, but Legoland Malaysia offers something slightly different:

  • larger open spaces,
  • Lego-themed attractions,
  • lower prices,
  • and a more relaxed amusement park atmosphere compared to some Singapore attractions.

Because Legoland Malaysia Resort is located very close to Singapore, it makes a perfect family-friendly day trip to Johor Bahru, Malaysia. We did not want to rent a car, and I also didn’t feel the need to book an expensive private transfer. After researching options, we discovered that taking a direct coach from Singapore was both affordable and easy.

And honestly?

It turned out to be much simpler than I expected.

How to Get to Legoland Malaysia from Singapore

Taking the Coach from Singapore

We booked our tickets online in advance and took a direct coach departing from Suntec City in Singapore.

Important: Coach companies, schedules, and prices may change, so always double-check the latest information before your trip. At the time of writing, several operators offer direct Singapore–Legoland Malaysia transfers.

We reached Suntec City using Singapore MRT, which was extremely convenient with a child.

The departure area was easy to find, and the whole process felt very organized:

  • show tickets,
  • board the coach,
  • sit back,
  • and relax.

The drive itself felt surprisingly short — around 1 hour 20 minutes in total, including the border crossing.

For us, this felt much easier than renting a car and navigating traffic ourselves.

Crossing the Singapore–Malaysia Border with Kids

This was the part I worried about the most before our trip. In reality, it was incredibly easy. When the coach reached immigration, everyone stepped out of the bus and walked through passport control on foot. It felt very similar to airport immigration — just faster and less stressful. And honestly, there was something unexpectedly fun about literally walking from Singapore into Malaysia.

How the Border Crossing Worked

Since LEGOLAND Malaysia is located in Nusajaya, near the Tuas checkpoint, our coach crossed the border via Singapore’s Tuas checkpoint before continuing into Malaysia. The process involved two separate immigration checks: one for exiting Singapore and another for entering Malaysia, but overall it was very manageable, even with young kids.

At the Singapore checkpoint, all passengers needed to leave the coach with their passports, but larger luggage could remain on the bus. After clearing Singapore immigration, everyone boarded the same coach again to continue to the Malaysian checkpoint. Once in Malaysia, passengers had to get off the coach again for immigration and security screening, this time bringing all luggage along for scanning. After clearing Malaysia customs, we reboarded the coach for the final short drive to LEGOLAND Malaysia, which took less than 10 minutes.

In total, it usually takes around an hour to travel from Singapore to the Malaysian customs area, depending on border traffic. The coach driver gave clear instructions throughout the journey and waited for all passengers at both checkpoints, which made the experience much smoother and less stressful than we had expected.

That was it.

Everything felt:

  • clean,
  • modern,
  • clearly signposted,
  • and very safe.

There were bathrooms available, staff were helpful, and we experienced almost no crowds at all. It genuinely felt like we were the only coach crossing at that moment. As a solo parent traveling with a child, I felt completely comfortable throughout the process.

Important Visa Note

Singapore and Malaysia are separate countries, so always check visa requirements before traveling. As Lithuanian citizens, we did not need visas for either Singapore or Malaysia, which made the process straightforward. By the way, don’t forget to take your passports!

Arriving at Legoland Malaysia Resort

After crossing the border, the drive to Legoland Malaysia Resort was relatively short — approximately another 20–30 minutes. The coach dropped us near the entrance area, and from there we walked along a pedestrian pathway leading toward:

  • Legoland Malaysia,
  • SEA LIFE Malaysia,
  • shops,
  • and nearby cafes.

The entire area is very family-oriented and easy to navigate.

I highly recommend getting your tickets in advance. Not only to avoid the queues but to make sure it is open and there are slots available once you actually arrive there. We used getyourguide and got our tickets here : LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort Entry Ticket

Is Legoland Malaysia Worth Visiting with Kids?

Absolutely. Especially if your children love Lego. But honestly, I think adults who grew up with Lego will enjoy it just as much.

What I really liked about Legoland Malaysia was that it worked well for many ages:

  • younger children,
  • older kids,
  • and parents alike.

I would personally say it is ideal for children from around 4–5 years old and up. And compared to some larger amusement parks, it felt manageable rather than overwhelming.

Our Favorite Attractions at Legoland Malaysia

The Lego Boat Ride

We started our day with a peaceful Lego-themed boat ride along the river, which was a lovely introduction to the park.

The Mini Train

Then we took the little train ride around the park, which Thea loved.

The Lego World Landmarks

One of my favorite parts of Legoland Malaysia was walking through the miniature world built entirely from Lego bricks.

There were famous landmarks from around the world such as the Petronas Towers, India’s Taj Mahal, various mosques, city skylines and many more.

Seeing everything recreated from Lego was genuinely impressive. And one detail I really appreciated: this entire area was covered and had fans. Because honestly, it felt even hotter than Singapore that day.

We were very happy we had packed:

  • extra clothing,
  • hats,
  • sunscreen,
  • water,
  • and snacks.

At one point we even changed into lighter clothes in the bathroom because of the heat.

The Roller Coaster That Terrified Me

Now let’s talk about the roller coaster.

I am not a fan of high-speed rides. At all. But because I was traveling alone with Thea, I didn’t want my fears to stop her from fully enjoying Legoland Malaysia. So we got on. The ride slowly climbed upward… and then suddenly dropped down at full speed.

I screamed.

A lot. And somewhere during that exact moment, the ride camera captured what may genuinely be the worst photo ever taken of me. I am still debating whether to publish it on the blog.

Scary Legoland Malaysia ride with kids

The funny part is that after the ride, Thea absolutely loved it and immediately wanted to go again. I respectfully declined. The ride itself was not extreme — no upside-down loops or anything too intense, but it was definitely exciting enough for me. And surprisingly, the ride photo cost only around €6, which felt very cheap compared to similar attraction photos in Singapore that often cost €20–25.

Is Legoland Malaysia Better Than Universal Studios Singapore for Younger Kids?

Honestly, I think Legoland Malaysia may actually be better for younger children.

Universal Studios Singapore is exciting, but it can also feel:

  • louder,
  • more crowded,
  • and more intense.
  • Less rides for younger children.

Legoland Malaysia felt:

  • calmer,
  • easier to navigate,
  • more spacious,
  • More activities for younger children.
  • and better suited for younger children who simply want to explore and play.

If your child already loves Lego, then Legoland Malaysia becomes even more magical.

Surprisingly Affordable Lego Shopping

Inside the Lego store, Thea chose a large Lego set.

I expected it to be expensive. But after converting the Malaysian ringgit price later, I realized we had paid almost half of what the same set would have cost in India (at the time we lived in New Delhi, India). Honestly, if you were already planning to buy Lego during your Singapore trip, Legoland Malaysia may actually be one of the better places to do it.

Food at Legoland Malaysia

The cafes looked fun and colorful with Lego-themed decorations and playful details. However, if I am honest, the food itself was mostly standard amusement park fast food. So if you prefer healthier meals for children, I definitely recommend bringing:

  • snacks,
  • fruit,
  • refillable water bottles,
  • or planning for a lighter dinner afterward.

Visiting SEA LIFE Malaysia

After spending most of the day outdoors in the heat, SEA LIFE Malaysia felt incredibly refreshing. And honestly? I highly recommend combining it with Legoland Malaysia. Because the aquarium is indoors and air-conditioned, it creates the perfect second half of the day after walking around outside.

Singapore to Sea Life Malaysia

What We Loved About SEA LIFE Malaysia

At the entrance, children receive a little mission pack with activities and tasks to complete while exploring the aquarium. Thea loved this.

Inside, we explored:

  • colorful corals,
  • jellyfish,
  • seahorses,
  • interactive stations,
  • and underwater tunnels surrounded by fish.

One of the most memorable parts was stepping into a transparent viewing cube where it felt like we were sitting inside the aquarium itself.

The SEA LIFE Souvenir We Still Keep Today

Usually, I skip attraction photos. But at SEA LIFE Malaysia, we decided to buy one. It came inside a transparent cube filled with blue liquid, almost like a floating frame. And surprisingly? It became one of our favourite travel souvenirs. Even now, Thea still keeps it in her room. I don’t remember the exact price, but it was inexpensive — probably under €10. And honestly, completely worth it for the memory.

Waiting for the Coach Back to Singapore

After finishing both parks, we explored the small shopping and cafe area outside Legoland Malaysia. Before returning, we stopped at Starbucks for chai lattes and drinks while waiting for the coach back to Singapore. I remember being nervous about missing the return bus because I knew crossing the border again would take time. But everything worked smoothly.

The return process was exactly the same:

  • coach ride,
  • immigration stop,
  • passport control,
  • reboarding the bus,
  • and returning to Singapore.

Simple and stress-free.

What I Would Do Differently Next Time

Honestly, not much.

But there are a few small things I would change:

  • wear lighter clothes from the beginning,
  • bring slightly more healthier snacks,
  • stop worrying so much about immigration,
  • bring an extra portable charger,
  • and maybe buy even more Lego while in Malaysia because the prices were surprisingly good.

Is This Day Trip Tiring?

A little — yes.

It is still a full day involving:

  • transportation,
  • walking,
  • heat,
  • border crossing,
  • and attractions.

But because the journey itself is relatively short and the immigration process was so smooth, we still found it very manageable and enjoyable as a solo parent and child trip. For us, the excitement completely outweighed the tiredness.

Practical Tips for Visiting Legoland Malaysia from Singapore

Bring:

  • passports,
  • water,
  • snacks,
  • sunscreen,
  • hats,
  • lightweight clothing,
  • portable phone charger
  • DON’T carry too much luggage, it will only be a burden, plus you will need to scan it upon entering Malaysia at the border.

Card Payments Worked Everywhere

We did not use cash at all in Malaysia. All our payments worked by card so no need to worry about currency exchange.

Mobile Internet

Our Singapore SIM card worked in Malaysia through roaming, so we had internet access throughout the day. Check your roaming coverage before traveling.

Is One Day Enough for Legoland Malaysia and SEA LIFE Malaysia?

Yes — definitely. In my opinion, one full day is the perfect amount of time for:

  • Legoland Malaysia,
  • SEA LIFE Malaysia,
  • Meals and breaks,
  • and transportation from and back to Singapore.

I personally would not stay overnight unless you simply prefer slower travel. For us, the day trip format worked perfectly.

This Day Trip Is Best For

  • families staying in Singapore for several days,
  • children aged 4+,
  • Lego-loving kids,
  • parents wanting an easy international experience,
  • travelers who do not want to rent a car,
  • and families looking for a simple day trip from Singapore.

Would We Do It Again?

Absolutely. In fact, the next time we are in Singapore, we will happily repeat this exact trip.

The combination of:

  • easy transport,
  • smooth border crossing,
  • fun attractions,
  • reasonable prices,
  • and family-friendly atmosphere

made it one of the easiest international day trips we have done with a child. And honestly, the part I feared most — crossing the border — turned out to be the easiest part of all.
